"Bump in the Night" is Conner Jensen's first full-length stop motion animated short. Completed over the course of a year, "Bump in the Night" is about a young boy who's afraid of the dark who is comforted by the monster under his bed. The two go back and forth in the form of an original song to the tune of "Turkey and the Straw", both written and preformed by Conner Jensen and voice talent. The artist stated that most of the inspiration was from the cartoons he used to watch growing up, such as "Animaniacs", which featured short musical numbers that had some sort of statement to make, even if it is tongue in cheek. This short as well as the set, props and puppets have been featured in two gallery exhibitions in Arizona.
“Fish Out of Water”, 2018, is about a mackerel tuna going on a dinner date with a worm at a high-end steakhouse. The artist superimposed cartoon characters over real life sets to create correlations between the fictional characters and human interactions. Photographs were used as backdrops for the rotoscoped characters that replace the live-action. The mood of the piece is primarily whimsical and humorous, and the soundtrack was formed with that in mind. The art style from the film "A Scanner Darkly" starring Keanu Reeves was inspiration for its use of live action that has been rotoscoped over to distort the lines between reality and illusion.
For this piece from 2018, the artist wanted to focus on memories, how they are created, and how they form our stories. In order to do so, he wrote a story about a day at the park being ruined by ants. The original words were removed and replaced by words taken from strangers and transposed over the original story to create a new story from a collective mind.
This piece was an homage to the classic 90's hip hop group, Wu-Tang Clan, who shaped the artist's musical tastes at a young age. The language in this piece is graphic, but is the original skit from the song "Method Man" off of the groups debut album, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)".
